The Yamaha YLF-874HW is a great wooden flute

The Yamaha YFL-874 is a high-end wooden flute which features a warm, rich sound matched with modern projection achieved through modern tone hole and headjoint designs.

Yamaha wood flutes are made from the highest grade of grenadilla wood, and feature the warm, deep and rich sound of traditional wood flutes with a modern projection from the latest tone hole and headjoint designs.  All wood flutes feature a handcut EC headjoint sculpted out of a single piece of grenadilla. Silver tenon rings help prevent cracking and reduce the overall weight of the flute. Handcrafted inset tone holes provide for extremely accurate intonation and excellent tonal clarity. These flutes were designed to maintain a focused tone core in every range, at any dynamic and in any hall. They feature an entirely new scale for accurate intonation in all registers and an innovative tone hole design to provide precisely the right amount of air resistance for excellent tone color flexibility. The grenadilla wood body is cured in the same fashion as Yamaha clarinets and oboes which will help prevent cracking.

  • Wood EC cut headjoint: The granadilla wood EC cut headjoint is interchangeable with a silver flute.
  • Granadilla wood body: The wood body is cured to prevent cracking with the same process used for oboes and clarinets.
  • Undercut embouchure hole: Sensitive response and accurate articulation.
  • White gold springs: Light touch and optimum response.
  • Tapered pivot screws: Accurate adjustment and smooth action.
  • Low B gizmo key: Easy and accurate fingering to facilitate high C.
